When Elaine Ware was visiting Evans Head from Grafton, she was looking to photograph birds.
The weather was rough and there weren’t many birds about, she said.
She went for a walk along the break wall and saw a surfer being towed by a jet ski out to the surf.

Elaine stood at the end of the break wall and snapped some pics of a young surfer enjoying the wild waves.
“The water was churned up and it provided great waves,” she said.
She posted the photos she took of the young surfer on the Evans Head Noticeboard Facebook page.

It didn’t take long, she said, before she knew the name of the surfer was Lewi.
This morning, Tuesday, May 2, Lewi sent his email address to Elaine and she sent back the photos you see here.
