WEEKEND FISHING: Early morning tides bring whiting and bream February 4, 2022 ABOVE: What a catch. Photo: Arrows Fishing Charters Evans Head It is going to be real tough for fishing this weekend. The weather will be terrible, with large seas and a strong wind warning. This rules out offshore and rock fishing. Experienced anglers only should fish from the rocks and the wearing of a lifejacket is recommended. Try the break walls for mulloway. Use large soft plastics and hard bodied lures. Back in the river, the tides are still good so try catching some mud crabs in Emigrant and North creeks. Those creeks will be the best bet fit you want to wet a line and be protected from the wind. The early morning tides will bring whiting and bream. Late afternoon we’ve been seeing some mangrove jacks along the rock walls and around the bridge pylons. Try fishing for bass this weekend, Swan Bay to Coraki has been pretty good. Good time to catch up on some rod and reel. If you can’t be out fishing, mucking around with your fishing gear is a good thing to do. Fishing report by Brett Hyde from Ballina Bait & Tackle FacebookTweetLinkedInEmail
