Anything can happen when you’re yarn bombing a big truck — and it did.
Fibre artist Katherine Golchert has been crocheting giant granny squares since February last year.
She has had help with fellow crocheters contributing to more than 1500 squares needed to decorate the truck donated for the project by Gava Freight Company.
Katherine was at the Cassino Art Gallery first thing this morning. The truck is in the car park behind the gallery on Barker Street.
She hired a cherry picker, had ladders ready and was still sewing with helpers right up until 5pm.
Katherine’s plans changed when some of the pieces didn’t fit right, so she had to reconfigure and keep sewing.
There were pre-made fitted pieces for the tyres.
Then Katherine had to drape and fit swathes of coloured squares across the back of the truck and the front grill.
At the end of a long day, IndyNR.com asked Katherine how she felt.
”Can I go to bed now?” she said.
The truck is on display at Cassino Gallery all day tomorrow, Saturday, August 2.
Big rigs passed the gallery during the yarn bombing, parking in Barker Street ready for the Friday Night Lights as part of the Casino Truck Show.
The parade is on tomorrow at 10am, down Johnston Street and onto Centre Street.
