Tracking beef from paddock to plate should be easier with $4million Federal Government funding announced today, May 8.
The funding will help businesses in the animal sectors improve and expand their traceability systems with the Livestock, Animal Traceability Development, Implementation, and Improvement Grant.
Successful applicants from the livestock, animals, and animal products industry will be eligible to receive grants between $50,000‑$500,000.
Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry Murray Watt said Australian and international consumers want to know where their food is being sourced from.
“Improved traceability helps maintain a competitive edge in the international marketplace,” Mr Watt said.
Applications open on May 15 and close on July 1.
