Vietnam Veterans’ Day is on Sunday, August 18 and there are commemorations in Casino, Kyogle and Evans Head.
Vietnam Veterans’ Day is on the anniversary of the Battle of Long Tan in 1966.
Almost 60,000 Australians served during the 10 years of Australia’s involvement in the Vietnam War.
If you’d like to pay your respects, below are the details of local services:
Casino
Sunday, August 18 at the Drill Hall Memorial at 11am followed by a service in front of the Casino RSM Club at 11.30am.
Kyogle
Sunday, August 18 at the cenotaph for a service at 4pm.
Evans Head
Sunday, August 18 at 10.430am at the cenotaph next to the Evans Head RSL Club where two songs will be played as part of the service – The Battle of Long Tan and I Was Only 19 by Redgum (see video below).
