Sixteen Kyogle Council candidates were asked if they would put their hand up for the mayoral position if they are elected as councillors.
Former Lismore mayor and moderator Jenny Dowell asked the question at the Meet the Candidates forum at the Kyogle Bowling Club yesterday, Thursday, September 5.
The candidates at the forum were: John Burley, James Murray, Kieran Somerville, Danielle Mulholland, Tom Cooper, Ian Murrell, Naomi Worrall, Simon Dejoux, Earle Grundy, Robin Harley, Doug Layton, Brett McNamara, Janet Wilson, Olivia Taylor, Glenn Robinson and Robert Cullen.
Neil Summerville was absent.
Elected councillors choose a mayor at the first meeting after the September 14 election. There is a referendum question about choosing a mayor at this year’s election. Read more about that here.
So which of the candidates would like to be mayor:
Definite NO: Murrell, Harley, McNamara, Worrall, Somerville, Murray, Grundy, Robinson, Layton, Taylor, Cullen.
YES: Mulholland, Wilson, Burley.
Maybe/don’t know: Dejoux, Cooper.
