Windy weekend, fish from the beaches for whiting and flathead

Fish report from Brett Hyde, Ballina Bait & Tackle.

Not the greatest fishing weather this weekend with scattered thunderstorms, but it’s still fishable.

A new moon on Tuesday means the morning tides will be bigger and there will be more run in the water. This makes for good fishing.

Night tides are good for catching mulloway. Try the morning tides for bream and flathead.

The high tides means the fish are compressed in the lower reaches of the river with flathead in the deeper channels.

There are a few bass between Woodburn and Coraki.

Try the beaches for whiting and flathead. There might be a bit of wind so head out early on Saturday or Sunday morning.

Happy fishing.
