Woman dies at house in Casino, man arrested

Investigators are at the house in Casino where a woman has died.

 A man was arrested after a woman’s body was found at a home in Casino, today, Saturday, June 29.

Police attended the house at 105 Johnston Street, Casino at about 2.30am today.

Officers assisted the woman, however, she died at the scene.

The woman, who is believed to be in her 40s, has not yet been formally identified.

A 31 year old man – believed to be known to the woman – was arrested at the scene and taken to Lismore Police Station.

A crime scene has been established and a critical incident team from Tweed/Byron Police District will investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident including the response from NSW Police.

That investigation will be subject to an independent review.

Officers from the State Crime Command Homicide Squad are assisting officers from Richmond Police District in their investigations into the woman’s death.
