There was a big drop in numbers at the NRLX cattle sales today, Wednesday, July 22 where the yarding was nearly halved from last week, with 1340 head and a reduction in all classes of cattle.
Quality of the young cattle was mixed consisting mainly of weaners and a few pens of light yearlings.
Restocker weaner steers sold firm to slightly easier depending on weight and quality, ranging from 465c to 612c with the medium weights averaging 541c/kg.
However restocker weaner heifers could not maintain last weeks prices selling 20c/kg cheaper,ranging from 368c to 500c one out standing line reached a top of 522c/kg.
There were only a few pens of yearling steers, the feeders sold to 502c/kg.
The yarding of export cattle consisted mainly of cows, along with a few pens of grown steers and heifers.
Grown steers to process sold to 424c, while feeder steers sold to 468c/kg.
Grown heifers to process topped at 419c/kg.
The cow market varied with 2 score medium weights down by 10c selling from 280c to 356c, while 3 scores averaged 362c/kg.
Heavy cows were 6c cheaper selling from 370c to 388c/kg.
There was increased numbers of plain cows acquired by restockers selling to a dearer trend and topping at 365c/kg.
Heavy bulls reached a top price of 414c/kg.
