There was a smaller yarding of 1118 head at the NRLX cattle sales in Casino today, Wednesday, August 13.
Quality of the young cattle was mixed with a large percentage of weaners in plain condition, however there was several lines of well bred cattle through the sale.
A large percentage of weaners went to restockers, mainly to southern and western areas, as well as Queensland.
Competition was stronger with restocker weaner steers selling 20c to 30c dearer depending on breed quality, ranging from 380c to 604c/kg.
Restocker weaners heifers were 20c dearer some sales more also depending of quality, selling from 312c to 450c/kg.
Background yearling steers sold to a top of 436c/kg.
There were limited numbers of grown steers that topped at 385c, while heifers sold to 382c/kg.
There was a plainer quality yarding of cows, with many showing the effects of the continuing wet weather.
Heavy cows were 20c cheaper selling from 342c to 374c, while 3 score medium weights averaged 318ckg.
Restockers were active in the market, keen to acquire cows for outside areas, paying up to 318c/kg for the medium weight cows.
Heavy bulls sold to a top of 345c/kg.
