Yarding of 1258 at NRLX with heavy bulls hitting top price of 282c/kg

Numbers today, Wednesday, November 27, were very similar to last week’s sales at the NRLX in Casino with a yarding of 1258 head.

There was a good supply of young cattle with a few more cows offered this week.

The yarding of young cattle consisted mainly of weaners and a small offering of light yearlings.  Quality was fairly mixed with several pens of well bred weaners, however there was also a fair number of plain quality cattle through the yarding.

The market varied with well bred weaner steers over 200kg selling 10c dearer, however light plain quality steers were slightly cheaper.

Most of the restocker weaner steers sold from 250c to 458c with the light weights under 200kg averaging 352c and the medium weights over 200kg/lw averaging 397c/kg.

Restocker weaner heifers followed similar trends to the steers selling from 210c to 350c/kg.  Yearling steers ranged from 236c to 368c/kg.

The yarding of export cattle consisted of a few more pens of grown steers and increased numbers of cows.

Grown steers met a keen market selling from 310c to 338c/kg for the heavy steers.  The cow market improved as did the quality, with 2 score medium weights selling from 238c to 252c 3 score cows averaged 262c and heavy cows sold from 265c to 290c/kg.

Heavy bulls reached a top price of 282c/kg.
