There was a yarding of 1520 head at the NRLX cattle sales today, Wednesday, August 6.
There was a good supply of young cattle and the cow numbers nearly doubled compared to last week’s sale.
Competition was stronger with restocker weaner steers selling 50c dearer ranging from 400c to 534c with the medium weight steers averaging 486c/kg.
Restocker weaner heifers were 40c dearer selling from 320c to 484c/kg.
Background yearling steers met a strong market ranging from 370c to 384c, while restocker yearling heifers sold from 330c to 372c/kg.
The limited number of grown steers sold to a top of 380c to process and feeder steers sold to 394c, while grown heifers toped at 366c/kg.
The large yarding of cows varied in prices with light and medium weights selling firm to slightly easier, while heavy cows varied in prices at times, although some of the heavy high yielding cows were 5c/kg dearer.
Medium weight 2 score cows sold from 270c to 326c and 3 score medium weights averaged 323c, while 4 score heavy cows ranged from 355c to 394c/kg.
Heavy bulls reached a top price of 350c/kg.
