600 turn out as Casino Run moves to the rail trail

The 13th Casino Run was held at the rail trail for the first time.

It was also the first time a half marathon of 21km was held. First across the line was Peter King with a time of 1 hour 16 minutes.

First female across the line in the half marathon was Laura Donohue with a time of 1 hour 31 minutes.

The run event started an hour earlier than planned becuase of an expected hot day.

Duncan Nichols from Kyogle ran 10km pushing 10 month old Steele.

Duncan did the run last year and this year his time was 42 minutes and 55 seconds.

Tony Curtis from Casino did the 10km circuit too in 38 minutes and 54 seconds.

Bill Parmenter is 75 and it was his fourth time doing the Casino Run.

“I do it as a challenege,” Bill said.

He does parkrun every Saturday too.

Bill Parmenter has done the runs for four years.

There were 600 participants at today’s run on Sunday, September 20.
