Country singer Katie Brooke plays in her hometown hall where she won a talent contest 23 years ago

Katie Brooke has a new album called Relentless

When Katie Brooke sat down to write the song Relentless she wasn’t chasing a single.

She thought the songs for her album were already wrapped.

But after a long drive home from Brisbane in tears, grappling with burnout and yet another hit of disappointment, a song spilled out. One that had something to prove.

One that asked the question: what will you do about it?

“I was entertaining the thought of throwing it all in,” Katie said. “So, when I got home, I sat myself down and threw all of those feelings into a song.”

That moment of grit turned into Katie’s most powerful offering yet.

Set to a driving beat with soaring vocals and a fiercely inspirational lyrical core, Relentless is both a cathartic release and a rally cry – not just for artists, but anyone who’s ever felt like throwing in the towel.

It’s the kind of song that pulls you off the ground, brushes the dirt from your jeans and reminds you why you started in the first place, Katie said.

The video for Relentless was shot on Katie’s property in Mummulgum – she plays guitar and sings while riding her buckskin gelding Cash and performs whip cracking tricks passed down from her father (who opened the Sydney 2000 Olympics with his own whip cracking performance).

“It just made sense. This is where the song was born, it’s where I live, and it’s where I do all of my dreaming. I wanted people to see the real story behind the song, not just hear it,” Katie said.

Raised on a beef cattle property in Mummulgum, Katie has opened for major names like The Black Sorrows, Brooke McClymont & Adam Eckersley, and Shannon Noll.

The release of Relentless kicks off Katie’s first time touring with a full band.

Katie and her band will be performing at Mummulgum Hall on May 17. Expect soaring harmonies, signature ballads, and a frontwoman whose love for the genre runs as deep as her roots.

“Sometimes the work is relentless,” Katie said. “But so am I.”

She said the Relentless album is a collection of songs I’ve been waiting my whole life to write.

Besides Mummulgum, Katie will also play in Tamworth, Brisbane, and Coffs Harbour.

“The Mummulgum launch is my home town launch. It’s a full circle moment for me because I won my first talent quest at Mummulgum Hall 23 years ago.”
