UPDATE: Driver given roadside breath test after two pedestrians were injured.
The 57 year old driver involved in a crash where two pedestrians were injured was given a roadside breath test that returned a positive result, police said.
At about 10.50am today, Thursday, April 13, emergency services were called to Barker St, Casino following reports two women had been hit by a Toyota Camry sedan.
Police and paramedics gave CPR to one of the women, aged 73, before she was airlifted to Gold Coast University Hospital in a critical condition.
A 74 year old woman was treated at the scene by paramedics before being taken to Lismore Base Hospital in a serious condition.
Specialist police are examining the scene.
The driver was arrested and taken to Casino Police Station where he is assisting police with inquiries.
