For years, some people in Kyogle have been quietly working together to bring an untold story to the screen.
The documentary Darby In a Life Time tells the remarkable story of Darby McCarthy – one of Australia’s best jockeys in the 1950s and 60s who did much to further the Aboriginal cause.
Award-winning director and actor Wayne Blair, a proud Batjala, Woppaburra, Mununjali and Wakkawakka man will be in Kyogle during Naidoc Week for an afternoon screening of the doco with a Q&A afterwards.
Wayne is a writer, actor, and director. He was on both sides of the camera in Redfern Now, and directed the feature film The Sapphires. He played a prominent role in the 2021–2024 drama series Total Control.
In Kyogle, Wayne will give insights to behind the scenes of making a film, industry insights and career pathways.
Light snacks, refreshments will be available and there will be time to connect with the community.
