The Dame is popular.
Within 48 hours of tickets going on sale for the show, the event was sold out.
The Dame aka Stan Munro will be in conversation with Kevin Markwell in Kyogle on Saturday, November 5.
Village Hall Players are putting on the show The Dame: Vintage Drag in Mint Condition and artistic director Lynette Zito is thrilled with the response.
“We are continuing to get booking requests so we now have a standby list of people who would like to be at the show. We ask that, if for any reason you are unable to attend on the night, please let us know as soon as possible so that we can reissue your tickets,” Ms Zito said.
Long time Kyogle resident Stan Munro, 81, will open his photo album and talk about his life. He will sing, spin the chocolate wheel and take the audience back to the glory days of Les Girls Melbourne.
The sell-out of tickets has meant the organisers have had to make a unique request to those who want to attend.
“Please don’t not turn up without letting us know,” Mr Markwell said.
“You can email villagehallplayers@gmail.com or let Wendy from Clay Corner (on Summerland Way) in Kyogle know. We don’t want to see an empty seat in the house for the world premiere of Stan’s show.”
There are plans for The Dame to play in Sydney and Castlemaine early next year.
The production is funded by Reconnecting Regional NSW Community Events Program in association with Kyogle Council.
The Dame is on Saturday, November 5 at 7pm at in the Kyogle Memorial Institute Hall.
It is 18 years and over event.
