UPDATE: At 5pm. Power is now back on.
More than 4000 customers in Evans Head, Woodburn, Coraki, Broadwater and New Italy are without power.
The first power outage was at 10.30am and Essential Energy has said the cause was because of multiple faults.
The second outage at about 1pm was caused by wildlife in the wires.
Muzza’s Milkbar in Evans Head has a generator and is able to keep serving customers.
Evans Head Library has closed for the rest of today, Wednesday, April 2. Evans Head Hardware has also closed for the day.
Customers were told the outage is so emergency work can be done and power is expected to be back on at 3pm.
