The funeral service for Alison Battistuzzi was held at Crawford Square Park in South Casino yesterday, Saturday, October 26.
The park was a happy place for Alison – it was where she had her weekly Allycat Spices stall at the Casino farmers market.
Alison died on October 22 from liver failure.
Read about her lifelong fight for breath because of cystic fibrosis here. A double lung transplant six years ago gave her a new lease of life. Unfortunately, a lifetime of medication damaged her liver.
Her husband Andrew Battistuzzi and son Dominic along with Alison’s three fur babies (her cats) were by her side as she died at home at Yorklea.
At the funeral service, Dominic spoke about his mother.
“I called her Kit Kat, Little, Ally Cat,” he said.
His favourite name though was – Mum.

“She helped turn me into the man I am.
“She was a passionate cook. She was never out of the kitchen.”
His mother was a fierce warrior, Dominic said.
“I’m going to love her forever. Rest easy, Mum.”
Andrew said the day of the service was their 28th wedding anniversary.
“The hardest part of our life together was Alison dying at home,” he said.
A friend of the family Brody Allen told the people at the service that he too had cystic fibrosis.

“It’s a crap illness,” he said.
“It takes a strong person to keep fighting even though the odds are against them.
“I implore you to donate your organs. Without organ donation, we wouldn’t have got the last six years of Alison’s life.”
It is easy to register for organ donation. Go here.
