Duncan Ryan gets up in the morning when it’s still dark outside to drive from Tunglebung to Coraki to open the butcher shop.

The 26 year old has been running Coraki Riverside Butchery since the end of March. He co-owns the shop with his father.

”We used to do all the bulk meat,” Duncan said.

The beef at the Coraki butcher is from the family farms at Tunglebung and Louisa Creek.

Duncan said he doesn’t get much time out of the shop in Coraki. The shop faces Richmond River on Richmond Terrace.

Not that Duncan has time to enjoy the view.

”We make our own sausages with a mix of plain and gourmet,” he said.

The shop stocks bulk beef and can provide whole lambs and whole pigs. Local honey is also sold there.

Duncan would like to include smoked goods as part of their range in the future.

For now, he is busy from 6am preparing the shop to open at 8am—4.30pm on weekdays and 8am—noon on Saturdays.
