The stakes have risen for this year’s Beef Week Cup race meeting with the race being upgraded to Racing NSW Country Showcase status.

This means each race will carry a minimum of $30,000 prize money with the Beef Week Cup being elevated to a $45,000 race.

Racing club president Mark Formaggin said it was a massive win for the Casino club.

Club secretary Renee Opryszko and the committee had been working behind the scenes to gain this status for the Beef Week Cup, Mr Formaggin said.

“The increase in prize money would attract more owners and trainer and would lead to a bigger crowd,” Mr Formaggin said.

The elevated status of the Beef Cup Week Cup comes in Beef Week’s 40th anniversary.

This year’s beef Week Cup is on Friday, May 27. Gates open 11am.
