The Kyogle Bowlo has had a new stainless steel kitchen refit – it’s big, it’s shiny and can to serve up to 500 diners at the Kyogle Sports & Community Club.

It was completed in March and on Wednesday, November 4, State MP Janelle Saffin came to see the upgraded kitchen that was funded with $280,126 from the Resilient Business Activation Program administered by the NSW Reconstruction Authority.

The kitchen was damaged in the 2022 floods.

The club contributed funds and all up the repairs and upgrade have cost $400,000.

Club treasurer Joseph Allen said it was “worth every cent.”

The kitchen has been redesigned to be flood resilient.

The walls in the kitchen are compressed fibre cement rather than gyprock.

Mr Allen said the club used the Kyogle Lions Club cooking van for six months.

Ms Saffin congratulated the club secretary manager Fiona Farragher on project managing the kitchen revamp,.

She also acknowledged club president Matthew Duley, treasurer Joseph Allen, and board members Noelene Duley, Noel Bodycote, Brian Creighton, Des Farrell, and Doug Petherbridge.

Kyogle Council’s deputy mayor John Burley and councillors Kieran Sommerville, Olivia Taylor and Janet Wilson joined Ms Saffin on her visit to the kitchen.
