At 6pm today, Tuesday, November 3, Casino Rescue Squad crew was called out because several trees were blocking Summerland Way between Casino and Whiporie.
After a day of severe storm warnings, some storms became dangerous, including a storm near Ellangowan that created a funnel cloud that could be seen in the sky.
Crews worked to clear trees from the roadway as well as deal with flash flooding across the road and a large number of loose cattle.
Yesterday, Monday, November 2, Craig Yates filmed the hail at Rappville. See the video below.
Storms remain active across the region.
Only travel if you have to and do so with caution, watch for fallen or falling trees.
And, if it’s flooded, forget it.
Here is storm advice from the SES:
- The safest place during a storm is under secure shelter, aware from trees, powerlines, creeks and low-lying areas.
- Keep an eye on the weather radar and avoid travel during heavy rain.
- Move your car under cover or away from trees and powerlines if safe to do so.
- Tie down loose items in your yard.
- Stay indoors away from windows and keep children and pets indoors as well.
- Report fallen power lines to Essential Energy 13 20 80.
- Steer clear of floodwaters. If you come across a flooded road, turn around and find an alternative route.
- Remember, flash flooding is dangerous and unpredictable. Stay vigilant.
