In a quiet village nestled below a mountain range, you’re likely to hear cows mooing in green paddocks and plovers shrieking if you get too close to their nests.
TenorUS will dramatically change the sounds of the village at a free concert at Mallanganee Memorial Hall this Sunday.
TenorUS is Roger Davy and Adam Bartlett, two of the nation’s most popular tenors.
Mallanganee resident Greg Baker said he was inspired to suggest the tenors to the concert organising committee after seeing a concert in Kyogle.
“When we first came here six years ago, the Three Tenors performed at Kyogle,” Greg said.
The hall was packed as people were keen to see a concert different to the usual ones.
A State Government grant of $42,000 at the end of covid lockdowns was an opportunity to bring several concerts to the west of the range villages including Bonalbo, Tabulam and Mallanganee.
Each village would have three concerts, Greg said.
Bonalbo has had theirs.
“Due to various problems, Tabulam haven’t had their concerts.”
The two tenors from the Gold Coast will be the last concert from the covid grant for Mallanganee.
“It took me a while to track down the tenors,” Greg said.
Davy and Bartlett will perform a range of opera, swing, rock and songs form Broadway and the West End. The concert will include tributes to Queen, Simon and Garfunkel, Michael Bublé, Peter Allen, Sinatra, Elvis, Tom Jones, Neil Diamond, Billy Joel, Elton John, Josh Groban and more.
