Mandy* was sitting at home in Kyogle finishing her tea and getting ready to wash up when she heard the loud laughing of not one but two kookaburras.
They were making a lot of noise and were trapped behind the board in the fireplace.
It was about 5.30pm, last Friday, August 7.
Fortunately Mandy doesn’t use her fireplace and she reckons the kookaburras fell down the vent above the chimney on the roof.
She felt she could have dealt with one – but two noisy kookaburras meant calling for assistance.
”I rang my sister and she sent her husband with a net,” Mandy said.
David managed to get both kookaburras in the net.
”I was holding them at the front door,” Mandy said.
”They flew off across the road.”
Mandy lives in town and she said she’s going to have to put something over the chimney vent so it doesn’t happen again.
