This morning social media was flooded with messages about what was open and where to get a coffee because Evans Head and surrounds had no power.
Some cafes had generators, others shops closed until power was restored.
The cause? At about 2.20am today, November 29, a sub-transmission line in the Woodburn area failed causing an unplanned outage across the Essential Energy electricity network.
Essential Energy said about 3500 customers were affected in towns including Woodburn, Evans Head, Coraki, Codrington and New Italy.
Crews moved in to fix the issue and power was restored by 11am.
Essential Energy said it acknowledged the difficulty caused to businesses and residents during the unplanned power outage and appreciated people’s patience while the work was underway.
Coffee, doughnuts and Saturday morning has been restored.
