Emergency services responded to reports that a motorbike had crashed on to the roadway while travelling south along Lions Road, Cougal at about 1.30pm yesterday, Friday, August 28.
Kyogle and Wiangaree RFS units, Woodenbong Police and Kyogle Fire and Rescue attended the crash.
The 42 year old female rider was treated at the scene where it took some time for paramedics to stabilise her.
The woman was then airlifted by Westpac Rescue Helicopter to the Gold Coast University Hospital in a critical condition.
Police were told no other cars or motorbikes were involved.
