The former IGA supermarket site at 121 River Street is up for sale. Owners Tania and Neale Hundy put it on the market in April.

Neither the property agent or the owners are saying what price they expect – Expressions of Interest will be considered when it comes to pricing.

Ms Hundy said she still had the liquor licence if someone bought the property and wanted to build a supermarket and bottle shop again.

During the 2022 floods, the supermarket and house were inundated.

“It took 18 months to get the IGA up and running again,” Ms Hundy said.

She still has the plans she had drawn up for a new supermarket after the floods.

She even wrote a letter to the NSW Reconstruction Authority asking if they’d like to buy it, especially because it came with a house and the Authority has been offering buybacks in Woodburn.

“They’ve broken me,” Ms Hundy said. “We’ve got nothing.”

The Hundys are living down south. Ms Hundy is still on the local business chamber in Woodburn and she’d like to see someone buy the site and put a supermarket there.

“I feel sorry for the whole town,” she said.

The property is being sold by Pidcock Commercial Real Estate and its listing describes it as:

‘A formerly successful IGA supermarket and bottle shop with a cleared front portion that offers a blank canvas for retail or commercial redevelopment.

There is a renovated 2–3 bedroom residence at the rear with Cedar Street frontage. The house has timber flooring, a new kitchen with a commercial‑grade cooker, updated bathroom, air‑conditioned living, and aluminium windows. There is a large metal‑clad storage shed with elevated floor and loading dock on the property.’
