There was a big drop in numbers at the NRLX cattle sales today, Wednesday, September 30 with a yarding of only 930 head, consisting of a fair number of young cattle mainly vealers and weaners and a smaller yarding of cows.
Stronger competition from Southern orders resulted in restocker weaner steers selling 20c to 30c dearer ranging from 438c and up to 638c for the light weights.
With medium weight steers averaging 496c/kg.
Restocker weaner heifers regained some of last weeks loss to be 15c to 20c dearer selling from 340c to 488c/kg.
Yearling steers sold to 490c and yearling heifers topped at 440c/kg.
Grown steers sold to 420c, while grown heifers topped at 422c/kg.
The mixed yarding of cows were 8c to 10c easier some sales more, with the exception of some of the plainer cows.
The 2 score medium weight cows sold from 310c to 346c, while 3 score medium weights averaged 346c/kg.
Heavy 4 score cows sold from 366c to 380c/kg.
Heavy bulls reached a top price of 416c/kg.
