There was a yarding of 1400 head at the NRLX today, Wednesday, August 12, the numbers down by 400 compared to last week.
Young cattle were well supplied, and there was a good penning of cows.
The market was firm to 10c dearer for restocker weaner steers which was mainly quality related, selling from 410c to 540c with the medium weights averaging 485c/kg.
Restocker weaner heifers were 10c to 20c dearer with increased competition putting a floor in the market, they sold from 320c to 436c with the medium weights averaging 390c/kg. Trade veal were 20c dearer ranging from 350c to 400c/kg.
Restocker yearling steers sold to a top of 494c/kg.
The yarding of export cattle consisted mainly of cows along with a few pens of grown steers and heifers.
Heavy grown steers sold to a top of 404c, while grown heifers toped at 400c/kg.
The mixed quality yarding of cows met a firm market with 2 score medium weights selling from 305c to 350c, and 3 scores averaged 354c/kg.
Heavy cows ranged from 374c to 379c/kg.
The bull market remained strong with best of the heavy weights reaching a top price of 412c/kg.
