Numbers at the NRLX cattle sales today, Wednesday, September 2 were similar to last week with a yarding of 1460 head.
Young cattle were again well supplied consisting mainly of weaners and, there was a few more light yearlings along with a fair penning of cows.
There was several runs of well bred weaner steers and heifers through the sale in a mixed quality yarding.
Strong competition from Southern and Western buyers resulted in restocker weaner steers selling 50c dearer ranging from 470c to 678 c with the medium weights averaging 595c/kg.
Restocker weaner heifers were 30c dearer odd sales more, depending on weight and breed selling from 404c to 570c medium weights averaging 500/kg.
Background yearling steers also made good gaines ranging from 460c to 624c/kg. Yearling heifers sold to 500c/kg.
Grown heifers were slightly dearer selling from 365c to 405c/kg.
The good yarding of cows met a strong market with 2 and 3 scores gaining 2c to 5c more in places.
The 2 score medium weight cows sold from 288c to 320c/kg.
There was a large percentage of the better 2 score cows acquired by Southern restockers with most ranging from 316c to 369c/kg.
The 3 score medium weight cows averaged 368c, while heavy cows sold from 372c to 396c/kg.
Heavy bulls reached a top price of 406c/kg.
