Yarding of 1600 head at NRLX sales

There were 1600 head yarded at the NRLX sales in Casino today, Wednesday, June 25, which was an increase of 320 from last week.

Weaner cattle were again well supplied, there was a few pens of grown steers and a fair penning of cows.

The well bred weaner steers held firm, however most of the plainer steers were 10c cheaper and more in places depending on quality.

Prices ranged from 236c to 430c with the medium weight steers averaging 365c/kg.

Restocker weaner heifers were firm for the heavier heifers, while the lighter heifers were 20c cheaper for the light plainer calves selling from 198c to 350c/kg.

There were only a few pens of yearling steers which sold to 346c/kg.

The small offering of grown steers struggled to maintain last week’s prices topping at 330c/kg to process.

The cow market varied with plainer cows attracting increased restocker activity to be 10c dearer, while heavy cows saw little change.

Medium weight 2 score cows sold from 230c to 256c, while 3 score cows averaged 258c and 4 score cows sold from 270c to 285c/kg.
