Numbers were up by 475 from last week’s sales with for a yarding of 1935 head at the NRLX today, Wednesday, September 9.
Weaners made up a large percentage of the young cattle, while cows dominated the grown cattle section.
Quality of the young cattle was mixed in a market that varied, with not the number of restocker buyers operating this week.
As a result, restocker weaner steers lost most of last weeks gain to be 20c to 40c cheaper depending on weight and breed, ranging from 476c to 640c with the medium weights averaging 555c/kg.
However restocker weaner heifers held firm selling from 420c to 564c with the medium wighths averaging 506c/kg.
There were only a few yearlings penned, the background steers toped at 554c,while feeder heifers sold to 456c/kg/
Grown steers and heifers were in limited supply.
Heavy manufacturing steers sold to 440c, while feeder steers sold to 490c/kg. Grown heifers toped at 420c/kg.
The larger yarding of cows consisted of several runs of medium and heavy cows, along with a fair number of plainer grades.
The market was generally firm, although plainer cows were up to 5 c/kg dearer.
Medium weight 2 score cows sold from 320c to 360c, while 3 score medium weights averaged 368c and heavy cows sold from 372c to 395c/kg.
An outstanding run of heavy bulls reached a top price of 424c/kg.
