Numbers continue to be consistent with 1585 head yarded at the NRLX for the Wednesday, February 28 sale.

There was a large number of young cattle which was made up of vealers and weaners, along with a few pens of light yearlings.

Quality was fairly good with some runs of well-bred and well-finished cattle.

The market varied considerably with restocker buyers selective in their purchases resulting in most of the young cattle selling 10c to 20c cheaper depending on weight and breed.

Restocker weaner steers sold from 234c to 420c with only a few selective lots reaching the 400c/kg and above rate.

Restocker weaner heifers sold from 220c to 288c while restocker yearling steers sold from 298c to 370c and restocker yearling heifers reached a top of 310c/kg.

The yarding of export cattle consisted of a few pens of grown steers and heifers and cows dominated the grown cattle.

Grown steers held firm ranging from 284c to 302c, while grown heifers toped at 283c/kg.

There were several runs of heavy high-yielding cows through the sale with buyers competing strongly on all grades of cows resulting in prices lifting by 10c to 15c/kg.

The 2-score cows sold from 190c to 235c, while 3-scores averaged 239c.

Heavy 4-score cows sold from 242c to 265c/kg. Heavy bulls reached a top price of 260c/kg.

Tomorrow, Friday, March 1 is the Livestock Open Auction Sale at 10am with 2000 head already booked.
