35 new EV charging stations coming to North Coast including Kyogle

Kyogle, Lismore, Tweed Shire and Kempsey LGAs are about to receive 35 new EV charge ports at 11 sites.

The exact locations of the new charging stations are being finalised in consultation with local councils.

The program is part of $5.9million push by the State Government to make travelling with an electric car more convenient, while supporting local regional economies.

The charging stations in smaller towns encourage EV drivers to stop and explore these communities.

This is the third round of the government’s EV Destination Charging Grants program which is rolling out across 48 regional locations next year.

It also introduces faster chargers than previous rounds which are powered by 100% renewable energy.

So far, 3300 new chargers at more than 1200 sites across NSW have been funded.

Minister for Small Business and North Coast and State MP Janelle Saffin said expanding our EV charging network makes it easier for visitors to travel here, stay longer and support local businesses.

“It also encourages more people to adopt electric vehicles and reduce their emissions and protect our environment,” she said.

“It’s a win for our community, the economy and the environment.”
