Kyogle Writers Fest offers free poetry workshops and comp

The theme for this year’s Kyogle Writers Festival is inspirational for writers and poets.

The theme is Close to Home?

There is $500 total prize money for the poetry competition based on Close to Home?.

Poems shouldn’t be more than 35 lines. Entries close on April 1.

To support poets in writing the best piece they can, local poet Vincent Stead will be running free poetry workshops.

These workshops will support beginners and more experienced poets.

They will explore development of subject, structure, style and sense of a poem, with tips on creative thinking, rhyming and poetic techniques.

Workshops will be held in Kyogle, Tabulam and Woodenbong.

·Kyogle: Saturday, February 26, 10-11.30am, Supper Room of Kyogle Municipal Hall

·Tabulam: Saturday, March 5, 1-2.30pm, Tabulam Public Hall, 10 Barnes Street,

·Woodenbong: Saturday, March 12, noon-1.30pm, Woodenbong Campground barbecue area, 127 Unumgar Street.
