An argument between two men turned violent when a man was struck in the head with a metal object at Ettrick.

On Wednesday, July 13, at about 6pm, two men – aged 28 and 34 – were arguing at Ettrick Rd, 13km southwest of Kyogle.

The argument became physical and the younger man was allegedly struck to the head with a metal object by the older man. It is believed the object used was a file that is used on horse hooves.

The 28-year-old was treated at the scene for lacerations to his head. He was taken to Kyogle Hospital and then was transferred to Lismore Base Hospital in a stable condition.

James’ partner said James wasn’t treated at the scene.

“He somehow managed to drive himself to the Kyogle Hospital,” she said.

The older man was arrested at a nearby property a short time later. He was taken to Casino Police Station and charged with wound with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

He appeared at Lismore Local Court on Thursday where he was granted conditional bail to reappear at the same court on Wednesday, September 14.
