When Kyogle locals were asked to dress-up for the fundraiser movie premiere of Barbie, they blitzed it.

Barbie screened at Kyogle Cinema this month to raise money for local theatre group – the Village Hall Players.

About 80 people were expected to attend the fundraiser and more than 175 turned up.

The film had to be screened in two cinemas at the same time as each cinema has a 135-seat capacity.

Odette Nettleton said people discussed their favourite Barbies and how they used to play with them or make clothes for them.

“There were women in their 80s coming to the cinema to see the film, as well as little girls not even in Kindy yet” she said.

Village Hall Players director Lynette Zito said more than $1800 was raised on the night.
