Beach, campground closed as fire spreads to the south

RFS Fires Near Me map shows the fire moving south from Goanna Headland.

A fire that was burning at Goanna Headland, Evans Head yesterday, Saturday, September 30 has spread south.

Chinamans Beach and Black Rocks camping area are closed because of the fire.

Fire fighters are working with National Parks and Wildlife Service and defence personnel to contain the fire.

They are being supported by aircraft for the fire burning 3km to the south of Evans Head. The fire is currently burning in a southerly direction and has burned 42 hectares.

Campers have been told to leave the park and all access to the Mibanbah Black Rocks campground and Jerusalem Creek day area is closed.
