Casino High School closes for the day after early morning fire damages classroom

Casino High School is closed for the day after a fire broke out in a classroom at about 5am today, Monday, May 4.

Casino RFS said Fire and Rescue Casino had already entered the classroom when the RFS crew arrived to assist. At that point the classroom was well alight and had been significantly damaged by the blaze.

Crews were able to extinguish the fire before it spread.

Casino Fire and Rescue and Casino RFS crews have been dealing with the fire since the early hours of the morning.

NSW Police are investigating the cause of the fire.

This classroom was burned.

There will be no staff at the school today and parents should make alternative arrangements for their children.

The NSW Department of Education said this was a safety precaution.
