When the Kyogle Show was cancelled because of wet of wet weather, a pizza food truck set up in the forecourt of a former car yard on Summerland Way.

Flamin Turkey Woodfire Pizza posted on social media that they were selling woodfired pizza.

Word spread quickly and soon there was a queue at the food truck.

Kyogle Council said it allowed mobile food premises to operate after the cancellation of the Kyogle Show, – “given that operators had already undertaken significant food preparation and would have suffered significant financial loss if they could not sell any product.”

Then another evening event was advertised on social media by Flamin Turkey Woodfire Pizza.

Kyogle Council put a stop to it any future events.

“The recent event on the weekend involved a business that was not registered to operate in the Kyogle local government area.

The food vendors have said they are registered to operate in Kyogle LGA.

“Under food safety regulations Council is required to ensure that all vendors operating in the Kyogle LGA comply with food safety requirements in the interest of public health.”

Because the event had been publicly advertised and community expectations were raised, the council allowed the planned evening of serving pizzas could go ahead – provided all operators were registered with the council, which the operators complied with.

“A development approval would be required before any future events could be held, as the site is not approved for such an event,” the council said.

The council said it was happy to work with the food truck owners to get the necessary approvals in place to allow future events to occur.
