Casino Rural Fire Brigade rushed to a grass fire, north of town at Bruton Lane at 1pm today, Friday, June 2.

A landowner’s burn pile had escaped quickly into the frost affected grass.

A neighbour had a quick-spray unit and helped the crew stop the spread of fire.

Casino East-Greenridge/Tatham 1, Kyogle Headquarters 9, Woodview 7 and Sextonville 9 units came to the Casino property to help bring the fire under control.

The RFS said it was a good reminder that the grass is very dry at the moment and to take care when burning and have all equipment in place.

Brigades all around the area are in desperate need of volunteers. Find out more about joining up at this link.
