CRICKET: Under 12s play on soggy ground at Casino carnival

Story and photos by Daniel Cohen

The Lismore Under 12 Cricket Carnival 2022 was played in Casino this week and drew visitors from across the state and into Queensland.

Players came from Hawkesbury, Lake Macquarie, Banora Point and Lismore.

There were three local teams – the Far North Coast Thunder, Sixers and Country.

Rain was an issue during many matches and at the final on Friday, January 7, the game was moved from Colley Park to Queen Elizabeth Park.

On Thursday FNC Thunder played the favourites-to-win Manly Warringah Cricket Association, and were beaten in a classy display for a squad of 11-year-olds.

Manly went on to win the tournament.
