Kyogle Council has given an update on water quality.

Some residents have been posting photos on social media of brownish coloured water coming from their taps.

Kyogle’s water is safe to drink, the council has said.

“Council has investigated reports of discoloured water in various locations in Kyogle and has found that it has likely been caused by recent changes in temperature and water flow, particularly with the new section of Mayfield Estate coming on line.

“Ongoing tests have shown the water continues to meet all health and safety requirements.

“While the discolouration is not ideal, Council wants to reassure residents the water is safe to drink and we are working to fix the issue.”
