UPDATE: Fatal head-on collision on highway at Woodburn

Update

A man died in a two-car collision on the old Pacific Highway at Woodburn at 7pm yesterday, Thursday, November 30.

The driver of one of the cars – a 39-year-old man – was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics. However, he died at the scene.

The 23 year old male driver of the second car was taken to Lismore Base Hospital in a critical but stable condition.

Emergency crews rushed to a collision on the old Pacific Highway, Woodburn at 7pm today, Thursday, November 30.

Casino Rescue Squad was called to the two-car head on because a person was trapped in one of the cars.

Police rescue was in attendance and had started extracting one of the drivers with assistance from Evans Head Fire and Rescue. Casino Rescue Squad operators stepped in and assisted too.

The driver was released from the car and airlifted by the Westpac Rescue Helicopter.

The driver from the other car was treated for injuries and taken to hospital for further treatment.
