Eileen Byers inspires others to walk, jog or run in Casino Fun Run

Eileen Byers at Casino High School.

Eileen Byers was at Casino High School to inspire the students to sign up for the Casino Fun Run happening on Sunday morning, September 15.

In 2015, Eileen ran the 42km New York Marathon as part of a select team of Indigenous athletes who changed their lives by training and running the marathon.

“If you have not experienced what it’s like to participate in a local fun run, now’s the time to do it,” Eileen said.

“Don’t think about how long the run is, just get out there and run, jog or even walk it.”

Sign up for the 2km, 5km or 10km track next Sunday, September 15.

Cost to enter ranges from $20 for individuals to $130 for corporate teams. Prices vary depending on the length of run.

Find out cost and register here.

Every year, there is a school competition too.

Winners at the 2023 fun run.

There will be a trophy for the primary school with the most participants in the 2km, and a trophy for both primary and secondary schools in the 5km.

Enter your school when prompted in the registration portal.

There will be gold, silver and bronze medals to the three fastest students (male and female) in both events.

And for the fastest teacher, there is the glory and a trophy.

The school comp is sponsored by the Casino Lions Club.

Make the commitment today and sign up for a fun day next Sunday, September 15

The harder the struggle, the greater the reward, Eileen said.
