Fire ant presentation in Casino aims to reduce spread of invasive pest

Fire ants are highly aggressive, and while only small, they have the potential to affect the way we live dramatically.

The discovery of a cluster of fire ant nests at Wardell in February prompted concerns about the spread of fire ants into Richmond Valley.

A presentation in Casino by National Fire Ant Eradication Program representatives will help people identify fire ants, their nests, and the actions being taken to reduce the spread of the invasive pest.

This presentation will share the negative impacts on our health, environment, economy, society, and lifestyle if we don’t eradicate them.

The event will be held at 10-11.30am on Thursday, March 21 at Room 1, Casino Community Centre, 35 Walker Street.

Live fire ants will be on display at the presentation.
