Weather for most of the weekend is looking good but there will be a bit of wind to contend with for fishers, Brett Hyde from Ballina Bait and Tackle said.
The full moon on Sunday means big tides will push clearer water into the river and the good tides in the early morning is the time to chase whiting.
The clearer water will see flathead and bream move up the river so try fishing from the ferry to Wardell.
Good numbers of mud crab are in the creeks.
Watch your crab pots this weekend as the big tides bring extra water that could move the pots. Brett suggested weighing the pots down.
Fish from the shoreline for snapper, flathead and tusk fish.
The current has slowed a little but could pick up so get out to the 48s while you can for a few pearlies and amberjack.
