Free webinar on reporting in a disaster zone

This image of the floods was taken by award- winning photographer Natalie Grono who is one of the panelists on the webinar – Freelancers in the eye of the storm.

How do reporters deal with reporting on bushfires, floods and other disasters?

A free webinar called Freelancers in the eye of the storm discusses what reporters need in their toolkit and what strategies help them when reporting on natural disasters.

This webinar is particularly useful for on the ground journalists – what do you need to know about working without power or communication networks, and how to take care of yourself and your sources at a difficult time? What are the considerations for continuing to cover affected communities on their long road to recovery?

The Walkley Foundation webinar incudes a panel of Daniel Clarke, journalist and filmmaker, Natalie Grono, photojournalist and 2022 Nikon-Walkley Photo of the Year winner and IndyNR.com editor Susanna Freymark who made a film about the floods called Tinnie Heroes.

Go to this link to book a spot for the webinar tomorrow, Thursday, July 20 at 12.30-2pm. Even though it’s free, bookings are required.

The discussion is followed by a Q&A from listeners.
