Heavy bulls top at 289c/kg at NRLX

Numbers were down slightly at the NRLX for a yarding of 900 head today, Wednesday, October 23.

There was a good supply of young cattle and a smaller yarding of cows.

Quality of the young cattle was again very mixed with mainly weaners offered and a few pens of light yearlings through the sale.

Restocker weaners steers were 5c cheaper, although quality and weight determined the trend in prices.

Restocker weaner steers sold from 250c to 414c for an average of 364c to 371c/kg.  Restocker weaner heifers were 10c to 15c cheaper ranging from 206c to 284c/kg.  Restocker yearling steers ranged from 230c to 250c to be down by 20c/kg.

There were mainly cows in the export yarding.

Feeder grown steers sold to a top of 338c/kg.

The cow market saw light and medium weights sell 5c cheaper, while heavy cows held generally firm.

Two score medium weight cows sold from 210c to 237c while 3 score medium weights averaged 247c and 4 score cows sold from 262c to 275c/kg.

Heavy bulls topped at 289c/kg.
